At Green IOW, we know just how hard it can be to keep your home warm—especially during colder months when energy prices are high and older homes let precious heat escape. That’s why we’re proud to be working in partnership with Fairer Warmth to offer eligible households across the Isle of Wight access to free and funded home energy improvements.
What Is the Fairer Warmth Scheme?
The Fairer Warmth scheme is designed to help households that are struggling with high heating costs, poor insulation, or outdated heating systems. Through government-backed funding, it provides practical upgrades to make your home warmer, more energy-efficient, and more affordable to run.
This means lower energy bills, a more comfortable living space, and a reduced carbon footprint — all at little or no cost to you.
What Improvements Could You Get?
Depending on your home and circumstances, you could be eligible for:
– Free insulation (loft, cavity wall, underfloor)
– Heating system upgrades (including low-carbon heating)
– Smart heating controls
– Ventilation and draught-proofing
– Energy efficiency improvements tailored to your home
These upgrades can make a big difference, especially in older homes that are harder to heat. Some households save hundreds of pounds each year on their energy bills.
Who Is Eligible?
The scheme is open to homeowners and private tenants who:
– Live in homes with a low energy efficiency rating (typically EPC D or below), and
– Are on a low income or receive qualifying benefits, or
– Live in a “fuel-poor” household (struggling to afford adequate heating)
If you’re unsure whether you qualify, don’t worry — we’re here to help guide you through the process.
