How We Helped Tony Reduce His Energy Bills After the Going Electric Event

At the recent Going Electric Event in Newport, we had the pleasure of meeting Tony. He was eager to explore ways to make their home more energy-efficient and reduce his energy bills. After a great conversation at the event, Tony decided to book a home energy survey with us to assess his current energy use and identify potential savings.

The Home Energy Survey

During our visit to Tony’s home, we carried out a comprehensive assessment, focusing on several key areas that can make a big difference in energy efficiency.

Thermal Imaging of Radiators

One of the first things we did was take thermal images of all his radiators. This helped us identify uneven heating, a common sign that radiators need balancing. A balanced heating system ensures that all rooms warm up evenly and that the boiler doesn’t have to work harder than necessary, which can save energy and reduce heating costs.

Solar Panels Discussion

We also discussed how installing solar panels could significantly reduce Tony’s electricity bills. Solar panels are a great way to harness renewable energy and lower dependence on the grid, especially with rising energy prices. Tony seemed keen to explore this further and planned to gather quotes from installers.

Loft Insulation Check

Insulation is crucial in preventing heat loss, especially during colder months. We measured Tony’s loft insulation and found that it could be improved. Adding or upgrading loft insulation can prevent heat from escaping, making a home more comfortable and energy efficient.

Feedback from Tony

Following the assessment, Tony sent us this feedback:

“ Many thanks for visiting us last week and undertaking the domestic energy assessment. Both Sandra and I found your advice interesting and very useful. We also received the Thermify report a couple of days after the visit. As a result of your visit, I intend to rebalance our radiators during the heating season, have another look at our loft insulation, and get some quotes for solar panels.”

It was wonderful to hear that Tony found the survey useful and is already taking steps to improve the energy efficiency of his home. Balancing radiators, improving insulation, and considering solar panels are all effective ways to reduce energy use and lower bills.

Final Thoughts

Helping homeowners like Tony find practical, actionable solutions to improve energy efficiency is what we’re passionate about. Small adjustments, like rebalancing radiators and upgrading insulation, combined with longer-term investments such as solar panels, can lead to significant savings and contribute to a more sustainable future.
