Green IOW Supports Community Lunch in Ventnor

At Green Isle of Wight CIC, we believe that community, connection, and a warm space to share a meal are just as important as saving energy. That’s why we’re proud to support the Community Lunch at Our Place – Ventnor, held every Thursday at St Catherine’s Church.

This weekly lunch is more than just a hot meal — it’s a space where people come together, connect with others, and enjoy good food in a warm and welcoming environment. Open to everyone, it’s a fantastic way to reduce isolation, support wellbeing, and strengthen community ties.

Helping Tackle Fuel Poverty and Build Warmer Homes

Our support for the Community Lunch is part of our wider mission to tackle fuel poverty across the Isle of Wight. Through funding and partnership, we’re helping keep this lunch free and accessible to anyone who needs it.

And we’re not just bringing the food — we’re bringing advice, too.

On the first Thursday of each month, we host a “Really Useful Thursday” during the lunch, where members of our team are on hand to offer free, practical home energy advice. Whether you want to cut your energy bills, improve insulation, or find out if you’re eligible for energy grants, we’re here to help.

“It’s about more than just lunch,” says Colm Watling, Director of Green Isle of Wight CIC.
“It’s a chance for people to connect, feel supported, and access the kind of advice that can make a real difference in their daily lives.”
